Members & Roles

Workspaces are shared spaces. You invite people in, and each person gets a role that decides what they can do — from running the whole workspace to simply reading and chatting.

Inviting members

If you're an Owner or Admin, open Workspace settings › Members and choose Invite people. Enter the person's email and pick the role they should start with. They'll get an invitation; once they accept, they appear in your members list and can work in the workspace. Until then, they show in a pending invitations section below the member list.

Current members with their role and status, plus anyone with a pending invitation.

You can change someone's role or remove them at any time from the same list. A member only ever has access to this workspace — inviting someone here never touches your other workspaces.

The roles

RAGBot keeps roles deliberately simple. Most people are Editors; a couple of trusted people are Admins; anyone who only needs to read gets Viewer.

  • Owner / Admin — full control. Manage members and roles, change settings, and create, edit, or delete any dataset or agent. The Owner is whoever created the workspace; Admins have the same day-to-day powers.
  • Editor — the everyday contributor. Upload documents, build datasets and agents, and chat freely. Editors can't manage other people or delete shared resources.
  • Viewer — read and chat only. Viewers can explore datasets and agents and ask questions, but can't change anything.

Permissions at a glance

Here's exactly what each role can do. Capabilities add up as you move left — an Admin can do everything an Editor can, and an Editor everything a Viewer can.

Built-in roles are locked; custom roles let you grant a precise set of permissions.

Changing a role takes effect immediately

If you downgrade someone to Viewer, they lose edit access right away — including to datasets and agents they created. Promote and demote thoughtfully, and keep at least one Owner or Admin in every workspace.
